Your Journey begins:

DAY 1: Depart North America
Board your international flight for your Rainforest Adventure & Malay Tradition tour.

DAY 2: Arrive In Kuala Lumpur
Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your own leisure. Your evenings are free to walk around the Golden Triangle and Bintang Walk near your hotel with many shopping malls and restaurants. Parkroyal HOTEL

DAY 3: Kuala Lumpur
This morning enjoy an orientation half-day tour of the city covering the major historical landmarks: King’s Palace, National Monument, National Mosque, and Merdeka (Independence) Square. Much of the history of the city is depicted here as well as the tradition and cultural heritage of the major communities.  Included in this tour is a photo stop at the Petronas Twin Tower plus an opportunity to enjoy the panoramic view of the city from the observation deck of the KL Tower. DAY 4: Kuala Lumpur / Taman Negara
You have an early morning transfer to Kuala Tembeling followed by a riverboat trip to Kuala Tahan. Your overnight accommodations will be in an air-conditioned chalet at Taman Negara Resort. In the evening, enjoy a slide presentation about the rainforest and a Night Jungle Walk.  TAMAN NEGARA RESORT (B/D)

DAY 5: Taman Negara
Today is a full-day excursion to experience the natural wonders of Taman Negara (national park). Bukit Teresek peak (1096 feet) is accessible via a 45-minute trail hike to enjoy a panoramic view of Mount Tahan and the forest canopy. The famed Canopy Walk is a series of foot bridges suspended about 100 feet above the rainforest floor, providing a rare opportunity to experience the wilderness from a high vantage point. Lata Berkoh is a spectacular cascade that marks the limit of easy navigability on the river. A deep pool below the cascade and rocky area overlooking the rapids offers an ideal place to relax. DAY 6: Taman Negara / Kuantan (Cherating)
Depart Kuala Tahan by riverboat to Kuala Tembeling. Then travel overland to Kuantan, the largest town on the east coast. You will be given a brief drive around the town before checking into your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Hyatt Regency Kuantan (B)

DAY 7: Kuantan / Tanjong Jara
After breakfast, visit Cherating, where village life is simple and the locals follow traditional pursuits such as mengkuang weaving to brown sugar production. Continue into the state of Terengganu, and through Kijal, famous for its lemang (glutinous rice stuffed into lengths of bamboo). The scenic coastal road is fringed with evergreen casuarinas, swaying coconut palms, and tranquil wooden houses. Terengganu’s cultural heritage includes songket weaving and batik printing. You will enjoy two nights here. Tanjong Jara Resort (B)

DAY 8: TanjOng Jara
Today relax in the luxurious Malay Tanjong Jara Resort, a sprawling beachfront site facing the South China Sea originally awarded the world’s foremost prize for architecture. It has recently been renovated to preserve its unique Malay archipelago beauty so guests are assured an experience that is “Unmistakably Malay.” Optional excursions available at the resort include snorkeling to a nearby island, and a rural village (kampong) tour. DAY 9: Depart Tanjong Jara / Kuala Terengganu / Kota Bharu
After breakfast, visit the turtle information center in Rantau Abang (hours are subject to change). Upon entering Kuala Terengganu, behold the floating mosque of Sultanah Zaharah near Kuala Ibai. Continue toward Kota Bharu with a stop at Pulau Duyong, where the master boat builders lives. Before settling into your hotel, visit the Che Minah Songket weaving center and Ismail Kelantanese giant kite maker. LOCAL HOTEL (B)

DAY 10: Kota Bharu / Kuala Lumpur
Visit the Central Market in the morning before you transfer to the airport for your flight to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, you will be met & transferred to a Kuala Lumpur city hotel. LOCAL HOTEL (B)

DAY 11: Depart Kuala Lumpur
Your day is free until your departure transfer to Kuala Lumpur International Airport for your departure flight home. Arrive with a greater understanding of Malay culture and customs. (B)
